Today we will focus on cycles that are ongoing, more specifically, the development and implementation of the SORA Synthetics platform XST token. The XST token was introduced at the 2022 SORA Economic Forum, see the article for more details Last week during Dr. Makoto Takemiya’s opening presentation for the second annual SORA Economic Forum, the XST token was in...

SORA Card vs. Other Crypto Cards and Wallets

A Comparison Between SORA Card and Other Crypto Card Solutions. — When designing the SORA Card solution, everyone involved was focused on delivering a unique product that stands out against the crypto card crowd and stays true to the SORA values of freedom, decentralization, self-custody and ownership, growth, as well as privacy. While most crypto cards focus on selling and spending Crypto in the fiat economy, we strive to provide a more expansive banking-style experience through SORA Card.SORA Card aims to provide an expansive banking-style experience in a non-custodial crypto setting Every card program applies a distinct business model and has diverse features, therefore it is challenging to make a clear comparison between all of the crypto-powered cards and banking apps currently on the market. However, below is an overview comparing some selected features that you, as the community, pointed out as the most important features the SORA Card should include.View the comparison table as PDF: sora.org SORA Card’s goal is to provide users access and ownership over their crypto and fiat assets, all in one place! As you can see in the above table, banking features such as IBAN functionality, FX, SEPA transfers, multiple fiat currencies, etc., make SORA Card stand out against the fiat options available from other crypto apps and cards. At the same time, through integration with XOR and the Polkaswap DEX, you will have a...

XST: A Platform for Synthetic Assets on SORA

As Proposed at the 2nd Annual SORA Economic Forum — TL;DR - The following points are a proposal for community discussion, and carrying out these specific changes will have to be voted on by the community to upgrade the SORA network runtime executable code, Synthetic assets on the SORA network will get their own platform based around a new token: XST, XSTUSD will no longer be convertible directly to XOR, but to the new token, XST, instead, Additionally, XOR will no longer be mintable via governance for any reason, so the XOR supply will now be managed 100% by the token bonding curve, To fund productive economic growth, the new token, XST, will be used for project funding, to expand the SORA economy, — XST: A Platform for Synthetic Assets on SORA - Synthetic assets are assets pegged to an index using only on-chain collateral. XSTUSD (SORA Synthetic USD) is a great example of a synthetic asset, as it is pegged to the value of the USD, but currently backed by redeemability to XOR, meaning that you can get the face value of XSTUSD given to you in newly minted XOR (so long as XOR is at least $3 in price). Synthetic assets matter because assets that are fully collateralized on-chain, but are linked to off-chain indices, are incredibly powerful. Whether the index is a fiat currency like the USD, a commodity like XAU, or a security like TSLA, having completely on-chain assets to represent these values allows a mult...

With a successful Ethereum hard fork (The Merge) happening last week, the HASHI Bridge is still closed for maintenance while the Ethereum network(s) stabilise. Please bear with us while we work on getting the bridge back online and stay tuned for further updates, as well as the reopening schedule. Key Features of SORA Card

Discover more details about the SORA Card and its innovative functions. — SORA Card is a unique self-custodial crypto debit card for the interoperable future SORA Card differentiates itself from other crypto cards and wallets by being a unique self-custodial crypto wallet with a DEX in the same app as your IBAN and debit card while ensuring the highest privacy and security standards. SORA Card is specifically designed for the interoperable future by bridging multiple EVM-based ecosystems and Polkadot’s Substrate networks into one solution. All of this will be made possible while it has the standard features you can expect from a debit card and banking wallet. Now, what does all of this mean? — What is a self-custodial wallet?. — SORA Card integrates with the self-custodial SORA Wallet and will later integrate with Fearless Wallet, the DeFi wallet for the Dotsama ecosystem. Other crypto cards like crypto.com and Binance Card are connected to custodial wallets. In a self-custodial solution, the customer retains full custody (possession) of their crypto assets at all times. The wallet (SORA or Fearless Wallet) is merely an interface to conveniently manage your assets, and it connects directly to the blockchain without intermediaries. In the custodial solution, you trust the possession of your assets to the wallet provider and cannot transact directly on the blockchain.SORA Card integration into the SORA Wall...

SORA Ethereum Merge Plan

This is what will happen in the SORA network during the upcoming merge. — SORA is ready for the Merge — HASHI bridge will shut down only to be opened again when the time comes! With the long-awaited transition by the Ethereum network from Proof-of-work to Proof-of-Stake, we have devised a plan to make sure that any outcome of this “merge” is taken into consideration. As mentioned by Dr. Makoto Takemiya on the SORA Daily update given on the 31st of August, 2022 the likelihood of there being a PoS and a PoW version of the Ethereum network exists, therefore, the HASHI bridge will need to be stopped for a few days, while the merge (or split) happens to avoid uncertainty and block finality issues. We will upgrade the HASHI bridge smart contracts and while we do so, the SORA network runtime will also be updated, so this will definitely be a very busy time for everyone. The best way to start any project is with a plan, and this upgrade is no different. Here is the proposed plan and timeline for the Ethereum merge and HASHI Bridge upgrade (times are approximate and depend on the timeline provided by the Ethereum network): 1. Shut down of the HASHI bridge (making all functions inaccessible) — Happening 1–2 days before the merge. Users on the EVM side (either PoW or PoS) won’t be able to use the bridge., Bridge functionality will be disabled on Polkaswap.io, ⚠️ Make sure to refresh the Polkaswap page ...

We have prepared a specific announcement where we inform you of all the necessary steps we are taking to ensure the transition is smooth. Updated SORA and Polkaswap Decentralised Development Tutorial

Making contributions to the RPF system friendlier for everyone. — — TL;DR - To make the decentralized development process easier and more accessible, RFP will now be submitted as GitHub issues, The issue template has the same fields as the RFP so the content doesn’t change, Once these issues have been discussed and achieved consensus, they will be made proposals, During the August 24th Ecosystem Updates, we mentioned that the RFP process was receiving an overhaul that would make it easier and more intuitive for users to submit their proposals, as well as for developers to work on them and the community to provide opinions and feedback on these proposals. As the ecosystem updates are constantly changing, here is the announcement and walkthrough for you to follow. — RFP Process Update - Updates from the Decentralised Development Programme have been quiet recently, both in terms of community submissions as well as programme improvement and optimisation and we are happy to announce that a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to improve and ease the experience for the community submitting their proposals, and the developers working on and implementing them. As the SORA Integrated Plan was recently released, we thought that a way to make the experience of using GitHub less mystical and more in tune with improvement submission systems that users are more comfortable with, therefore, we have imple...

You are Heresora.org/pub/sora_integrated_plan_v7_public-august-24.png Some say that seven is a lucky number, and in the seventh iteration of the SORA Integrated Plan, we can see why. As mentioned last time, the SORA Kusama Parachain is live. While this is great news, our vision involves a bridge between the SORA Substrate chain and the SORA Kusama parachain. We are happy to announce that work on this bridge is progressing, but delays in the production version of the Parity Bridges Common is slowing down progress. Solutions that involve a bridge between the SORA network and the SORA Kusama Parachain that focus only on assets are being explored to speed things up. A testnet HRMP connection with o...
