UREEQA Repositioning for an Exciting Autumn
You won’t find many start-up tech platforms that take direct routes from launch to the summit, and we’re no exception. There’s a lot of trial and error involved in the process of developing and branding technology as unique as ours, and we’ve learned a lot from the zigs and the zags along the way. That said, we’re getting close. And there’s a lot to be fired up about on the horizon. To begin, CEO Kirk Fergusson’s one-year tenure with UREEQA is unfortunately coming to an end as he pursues new opportunities. The organization made tremendous strides under Fergusson, whose expertise was specifically needed at UREEQA to elevate and solidify our market position and approach. With a clear market position, we’re on the right track for an eventful autumn, under the tutelage of executive chairman Harsch Khandelwal and COO/CEO Joe Pillitteri, who is stepping up to take on more responsibilities at UREEQA. The team under these leaders remains robust, versatile and extremely motivated. We’re set to accelerate marketing initiatives as part of a general repositioning. It’s a necessary step in order to remain nimble and avoid the complacency that often prevents new tech platforms from reaching their full potential. There’s a lot to come, including significant branding and website changes, the launch of UREEQA Music, and referral and brand ambassador programs. Plus, we are currently set to provide validation for a few v...
UREEQA Brings Validation as a Service to the Market
Slowly — far too slowly, if you ask us! — the digital space is beginning to grasp just how much damage fraudsters have inflicted on the NFT realm. The problem is most marketplaces and platforms have focused so much on accommodating skyrocketing NFT demand that they’re far behind when it comes to policing piracy, fraud and theft in those spaces. UREEQA to the rescue. We saw this coming at the outset and have been working 18 months to develop, test and refine our revolutionary validation process. And now, our system is ready to be implemented anywhere in the digital world as a Validation-as-a-Service (VaaS) solution. For those new to our platform, our validation service generates a Package of Proof™ and a Responsibly Minted™ NFT, which come together to serve as evidence that a creator and their creation are legitimate. Now, any NFT enterprise can integrate the core components of that platform into their marketplace, just like that. And so too can any auction house or creator association. “The initial model adopted on the fly by NFT marketplaces was so hurried and demand-focused that it enabled bad actors to take advantage of the situation,” UREEQA CEO Kirk Fergusson said. “Efforts need to be made to curb their abilities to easily perpetrate fraud, and we have the answer with a patented process and a blockchain-based solution that can be asserted on any NFT platform.” UREEQA’s revolutionary system ...
UREEQA Validating all 2,022 NFTs in Upcoming Women of Venusverse Genesis Collection
For the first time ever, UREEQA is set to validate an entire NFT collection. And we couldn’t think of a better partner for the task than our friends and neighbors at Venusverse — an organization designed to give women insight into the world of Web3. Canada’s first female-founded, female-focused organization is launching a groundbreaking new NFT collection that pays homage to women worldwide, and we’ll be providing the full run of 2,022 NFTs with a shiny Package of Proof™ so that buyers and sellers can be assured they’re not being taken advantage of in the wild and still untrustworthy NFT space. The Women of Venusverse Genesis Collection of 2,022 NFTs is beautiful, eclectic and diverse, representing women from across the world, bringing them all together under one collection. The drop is due to take place on April 19, 2022 on the Opensea marketplace. Ten percent of revenue from the collection will be donated to the CivicAction Leadership Foundation in support of women in that organization’s leadership programs, including the DiverseCity Fellows and the Emerging Leaders Network. Collectors who buy into the collection will gain membership access to the Venusverse community, and they’ll also be granted peace of mind thanks to UREEQA. THEMUSEUM’s CEO, David Marskell, introduced the two startups and asked both CEOs to serve on a recent panel with Museums Canada. It’s only fitting that THEMUSEUM will be ho...
UREEQA Strikes Partnership with Venusverse
We don’t partner with just anybody. UREEQA’s modus operandi is explicitly oriented toward supporting creators. That takes priority over every other goal we’ve set, which is why our partnerships tend to be with projects and platforms that share similar priorities and sentiments. Enter Venusverse — a fellow Ontario-based digital biz that has the exact values we love to see in potential collaborators. As Canada’s first female-founded, female-focused educational program, incubator and NFT collection, Venusverse’s mission is to close the gender gap by removing the barriers to entry for women in Web3. Considering that we’re all about protecting, managing and monetizing creative work on behalf of all creators, this certainly is a match made in metaheaven. “Both UREEQA and Venusverse are focused heavily on supporting creators by setting a higher standard in this realm, and on the elements of education and equality in this budding space,” UREEQA CEO Kirk Fergusson said. “We’re extremely excited to team up with an operation that exhibits such important values. And as an added bonus, we’re neighbors in Southern Ontario.” Venusverse is blazing trails by empowering women to become early adopters in the world of Web3 through educational sessions that tackle the complexities of this new space. As well as an NFT incubator designed to support female creators, and a forthcoming NFT art collection with membership b...
UREEQA Appoints David Mahdi New Business Advisor
UREEQA’s all-star team of leaders and advisors has expanded by one with the addition of former Gartner VP/Analyst David Mahdi. Mahdi has considerable experience advising clients in the digital space, specifically blockchain. Now, he’s set to advise UREEQA about how to best utilize its unique blockchain-based platform and non-fungible token (NFT) validation solution. His expertise will help UREEQA expand its business to become a premier name in the blockchain realm. “David’s nearly 20-year-career spanning industries such as software development, cybersecurity and blockchain has made him one of the most sought-after analysts in the industry,” UREEQA CEO Kirk Fergusson said. “Our founders and leadership team will look to David to deepen our industry leadership as we deliver on our mission to promote the authorship, ownership and originality of creative works through our innovative technology.” During his time at Gartner, Mahdi played an instrumental role helping that publicly-traded technology research and consulting company to define its practices around NFTs and blockchain. “UREEQA’s best-in-class validation technology separates them from the crowd, and as widespread regulations within this space become more prevalent, UREEQA’s relevance in the NFT and blockchain industry will become more apparent,” Mahdi said. “I’m thrilled to embark on the opportunity to work with such an exciting player in the bloc...

UREEQA — 2021: The Foundational Year
UREEQA — 2021: The Foundational Year - We launched our URQA token on March 31 of this year. As we approach the end of our first calendar year of operations in the crypto space, we thought it was important to pause, take a step back and look at what we have built in this foundational year. Here is what we see when we step back from the day-to-day grind and soak in the bigger picture. The Vision As a society we have found many ways to divide ourselves (gender, ethnicity, income levels, etc.). The one thing that unites us as humans is our common love for creative work. We all love to listen to music, read a book or watch a movie for example. Yet the people who create these works get ripped off every day. A recent study showed that 85% of the images on the internet were used without permission. UREEQA was created to protect and empower creators. The Team Our vision was so inspiring that assembling a world class team and Advisory Board was much easier than we thought. Our Founders include a gold medalist from the same university Vitalik Buterin went to, the person named Canadian Corporate Lawyer of the Year, a former Partner at an international accounting firm, and a former CIO at a division of a Global Fortune 500 company. Our Advisory Board includes two partners at one of the top talent agencies in Los Angeles, the President of the American Recording Academy, a former VP IT at SOCAN and the President of a company provi...
UREEQA Fall In Review
Winter has at least unofficially arrived here in the Northern Hemisphere, and the holiday season is upon us. That doesn’t mean we’ll slow down one bit here at UREEQA, but with December here, we figured we’d take a moment to reflect on a jam-packed run through fall within and outside of the platform. Changing the copyright game with our MPA service For most, the highlight of the season came when new UREEQA VP of Music, Scot McCracken, spearheaded the launch of our revolutionary music publishing administration service. The new endeavor leverages the one of the best rights and content management platforms in the business and bundles that with UREEQA’s gold-standard intellectual property protection service, providing songwriters and composers with a value-laden set of services that’s unique in the marketplace. “We’re empowering creators and royalty owners in general by offering them security and flexibility in terms of how they want to monetize their work,” McCracken said at the time of the monumental release. “Copyright organizations are stuck in the 20th century, but we’re blazing a trail for songwriters by hashing our copyrights on the blockchain — creating an immediate timestamp in the process. It’ll be a game-changer.” Trending Canadian singer/songwriter Maggie Szabo, whose hit single “My Oh My” is in heavy rotation on radio stations throughout Canada and has cracked the top 30 on the Canada...
UREEQA’s NFT Authenticator: Peace of Mind at Your Fingertips
At its core, UREEQA protects. There’s a lot more to it, and we bring a lot more to the table in terms of management and monetization, of course. But we’re nothing without our ability to offer protection to both creators and consumers in a wild, continually evolving digital marketplace. Our latest and greatest tool focuses squarely on that principle by making it easier than ever to verify the authenticity of a non-fungible token (NFT) via the UREEQA platform. Say hello to UREEQA’s NFT Authenticator. How does it work? As always, we keep it as simple as possible. Any user can connect their digital wallet or a specific NFT’s smart contract and token ID, and our fancy new tool will analyze that information to determine if the NFT in question is authentic. And of course, we’ll show our work. The initial version of the NFT Authenticator checks the smart contract that the NFT was minted on to ensure it is approved, it verifies copyright associated with creative work incorporated within the NFT (looking specifically at authorship, ownership and originality), and it examines the NFT for any redeemable rights and utilities that are connected to it. Who can use it? As a creator, you can utilize the NFT Authenticator in order to quickly and thoroughly prove to potential buyers that your UREEQA-validated work is legit. As a potential buyer, you can take the verification process into your own hands and bypass the seller in orde...
UREEQA’s New Music Publishing Admin Business Launches with Trending Canadian Singer/Songwriter…
UREEQA’s New Music Publishing Admin Business Launches with Trending Canadian Singer/Songwriter Maggie Szabo - After several months of exhaustive work behind the scenes, the UREEQA team is bringing its innovative new music publishing administration service to songwriters and composers around the world. And we’re excited to announce that the program’s first enrollee is trending Canadian singer/songwriter Maggie Szabo. Szabo, whose hit single “My Oh My” is in heavy rotation on radio stations throughout the country and has cracked the top 30 on the Canada Hot AC chart, is thrilled to be a part of a revolutionary endeavor that will marry music and the blockchain to benefit creators worldwide. “I’ve always had a fascination with crypto, and UREEQA has managed to bridge the gap between music and blockchain technology,” Szabo said. “Through their new platform I actually hash the copyright for the music I write, which protects me against piracy. As an indie artist and songwriter, protecting my rights has always been very important to me and I love encouraging other artists to make sure they are handling their business properly.” Music creators who enroll in the program won’t just benefit from the increased security associated with hashing their intellectual property on the platform, they’ll also gain the ability to utilize a growing array of features and functions available exclusively to UREEQA clients.
