Lamden ARKO is now LIVE!
After a long development cycle, Arko FINALLY lives! Before I get to anything I just want to say that I am honored to work with some of the best and brightest people and I just want to call them out. Stuart, Mykyta, Glen, and Allen have contributed a lot of time to get this deployment out the door and I want to thank them for being the best and smartest people I have worked with. I also want to call attention to Paul Donald, Endogen (if that is your real name), Benji, and Crosschainer for keeping me honest about bugs and testing things as we went. You can never catch all the bugs, but you guys sure found a lot. A final thank you to those that ran Testnet nodes and dealt with our development process in real-time. Thanks for sticking with us! I’m sure I have forgotten many people, but I think you all know who you are. — Let’s get to the important stuff! - If everything goes according to plan the Lamden Vault Wallet should make the Arko Mainnet network option available at 5 pm EST (make sure you refresh the Vault after that time). Also, make sure you are on version v2.4.0. You can download the latest here. “Arko Mainnet” is now the network you should use. A future update will remove the “Lamden Mainnet” and “Lamden Testnet” network options entirely to avoid confusion. All $TAU balances and smart contracts values were transferred over to the new network. Contact your favorite Dapp operator to see if yo...

In preparation for the upcoming launch of Arko, we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions: — Arko Q&A - — How many nodes are planned initially?. — Lamden proper will run 3 nodes. Then expand the network out to 10 nodes within the first few weeks. After that it’s up to the Node Group to expand the network as they see fit. — Will there be any hard limits on the number of nodes?. — No, it’s up to the node owners to decide how many to accept. More isn’t always better and scaling too quickly for no reason isn’t advised. The network needs to consist of enough nodes to be resilient to nodes going offline but also not too many that the internode communication becomes overloaded. Future updates to the protocol should be looked at to scale better. — Cost to register for a node election?. — 100k TAU, currently hard-coded — What happens if you get voted out?. — A node owner’s 100k TAU stake CAN be recovered if they are released from the node group in good standing. An example of this would be the time requirement is just too much and they would like to step down voluntarily. In this case the Node Group can vote to have them removed and their 100k TAU transferred back to them. In the case of a node being found to be malicious or evidence of a node owner acting in bad faith to the wellbeing of the network, the Node Group can oust the Node Owner and burn the...
Why Run an Arko Node?
Note: We have a group of community members who are running Arko nodes for the Arko Testnet. These individuals will be offered the first opportunity to become the initial Arko Node Group. Lamden’s community is highly dedicated and engaged, and so we are thrilled for our members to begin running Arko nodes. Before diving into the specifics of how to apply and setup your node, it’s worth considering the benefits and challenges of being a node operator: Participate in Governance: You can vote on network policies like determining the amount of nodes participating in the network, managing stamp costs/rewards and approving future protocol upgrades., Participate in the DAO: You will have a vote in where the Lamden Labs $TAU funds are distributed and with that, the future of Lamden., Earn rewards: Node operators will earn a cut of each transaction fee for transactions processed by their node. The amount split by each node is determined by the governance layer., Increase security: By participating in the consensus process and validating transactions, your node will help secure the Lamden network., Increase decentralization: The more nodes a network has, the more decentralized it becomes which helps resist censorship and attacks, and increases the network’s overall stability., Community engagement: Become more involved in the Lamden community and contribute to its continued development and growth., Cost: You’ll need to stake...
Features of Arko
We’re thrilled to share more information about the upcoming Arko upgrade to the Lamden network which brings a host of new features and improvements. We couldn’t possibly list them all, but here’s a few highlights to whet your appetite: The documentation sites linked below have not been FULLY updated but will be before January 30th. 1 Community Nodes! — the new community nodes empower community members and developers to participate in the decentralization and security of the Lamden network and enable everyone to have input in the selection of future node operators. 2 DAO — a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) will give node owners voting power over the use of Lamden Labs $TAU funds and responsibility to vote on motions to add or remove nodes. This added layer of transparency and democracy gives the community a greater say on important decisions about the future direction of the platform. 3 Node Architecture — the Lamden node architecture has been completely rewritten. The current Mainnet blockchain will be paused and a snapshot taken, which will be used to create the first block on Arko. This overhaul of the underlying technology ensures the network is running on the most efficient and state-of-the-art technology possible. 4 Documentation — our reference documentation has been completely refreshed with the latest and greatest content, detailing the intricacies of the Lamden tools. The upd...
Welcome to Lamden Arko
Mark your calendars, because on January 30th, Lamden will debut its highly anticipated new network, Arko. This is a significant upgrade to the previous network that brings a host of exciting new features and improvements that will elevate Lamden to new heights. Bookmark this page and subscribe to our social channels (Twitter, Telegram, Reddit) so you don’t miss out! — Release Announcement - On January 30, Lamden will be releasing Arko (meaning NEXT), a significant upgrade to the Lamden technology that will bring a number of new features and improvements. One of the most exciting aspects of Arko is the introduction of community nodes. These nodes, which will be run by members of the Lamden community, will allow for increased decentralization of the platform. This is important because decentralization ensures that no single entity has too much control over the network and helps increase security and stability. In addition to community nodes, Arko will implement a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) that will give node owners voting power over Lamden Labs funds. This means that node owners will have a direct say in the path of the project and help make important decisions about the ecosystem’s future. Overall, the release of Arko represents a major milestone for Lamden and is an exciting development for the entire blockchain community. The increased decentralization and improved performance of the Lamden netwo...
