  STMX DEVELOPER NEWS

How to connect a wallet to your Storm Play account.

You can find your wallet by tapping on the wallet icon which is the middle of the three icons at the bottom of the screen (1). Within the Wallet page you will find the edit icon in the top right hand corner of your screen. (2) You will find a screen that will give you the option to add wallet information for three different currencies that you can withdraw your Bolts into. To enter a wallet simply click on “Add Address” or “Add Email” and you will be able to type or paste directly in that field. In order to withdraw into Bitcoin you will need to create an account on Xapo or Coinbase. Then you will just have to put the email address associated with your account on one of those exchanges into the Wallet page of your Storm Play app. You can toggle between selecting Xapo of Coinbase by clicking on the name of the exchange before entering your email address. In order to withdraw into Ethereum you will need to create an account on Coinbase. Then you will just have to put the email address associated with your account into the wallet page of your Storm Play app. Storm Tokens can be held in any erc-20 wallet and there are a multitude of different services that exist to help you accomplish this. A few we recommend are Jaxx and Trust Wallet, but again, any erc-20 wallet will work just as well. You will need to put your wallet address (which will be a long string of letters and numbers beginning with 0x) into the wallet page ...

iOS App Progress Update — Beta Approved!

Storm has received beta approval from Apple for our native iOS app!Great news! We’ve received beta approval from Apple for our native iOS Storm app! Hi Everyone, Our recently updated Storm branding was an important milestone along the way in our product suite overhaul, which is why we published the rebranding update first. Development work is hot across iOS, Android, and Web. — iOS App Progress — BETA APPROVAL! - Shout out to our product and engineering team who received beta approval from the Apple App Store for our native iOS app! It’s been VERY challenging for any cryptocurrency-related app to find favor and to actually get a native app approved by Apple. This recent approval of our iOS app was a delightful surprise to the Storm team as we were originally planning to handle iOS users via a web app. With this new milestone in getting the beta approval by Apple, we can actually move forward in integrating the Storm experience in one app, ONE STORM. While approval for a native iOS app is an important step along the way, we are not ready to roll out just yet. We want to deliver Storm Players a great experience. This means we are ensuring that the UI is intuitive and thoughtful, that our backend systems are robust and ready for scaling and future features, and that we’ve put the application through testing.CLICK THIS LINK to join the list to be NOTIFIED when the iOS Storm app launches (June 2018). —...

Hi Storm Community, You may have seen some branding changes propagating through our channels… that started with the soft launch of the rebrand began last week at Consensus 2018. You can see more of it on www.stormx.io. — Insights into Storm’s Rebranding: - For the Designers and for many of the community that have been asking about why the rebranding — Here are a few of the team’s thoughts around the inspiration for the rebranding: We wanted to lead with more “white-space” and uplifting visual message, that was less dark and dreary. Storm is building a bright future and we wanted our branding to reflect that., With Operational Excellence being a top focus in 2018 internally at Storm, having a more professional brand was important. We wanted to lead all of our efforts at Storm that felt more polished, contemporary and cohesive. The brand is key in that message. Over the next several blog posts and our product launches, you’ll also start seeing a consolidated “One Storm” come out across the board in the experience., Reg...

Storm Token Contract Is Not Overflowing

On April 22, 2018, there was a vulnerability found in some ERC20-Token Smart Contracts called overflow (related post from CryptoSlate called: “BatchOverflow Exploit Creates Trillions of Ethereum Tokens, Major Exchanges Halt ERC20 Deposits”). Here is the Storm team’s update to the community on how this does not affect the Storm Token contract. What is “Overflow?” “An overflow/underflow occurs when an arithmetic operation attempts to create a numeric value that is outside of the range that can be represented with a given number of bits — either larger than the maximum or lower than the minimum representable value.” This vulnerability has allowed some bad actors to create tokens without spending any of their own tokens. Storm Token is not affected by this vulnerability. When we verified this, we reviewed our Storm Token smart contract and did not find any weaknesses. This is all thanks to OpenZeppelin’s SafeMath utility library. See below for an outline of the technical details. SafeMath Image: ethfiddle.com- Some coins/tokens with the vulnerability were using SafeMath, but forgot to use the SafeMath’s multiply operation in their batch transfer function. Overflow with * operation image: ethfiddle.com Without overflow using SafeMath mul operation: ethfiddle.com We checked our Storm Token Contract and confirmed that every mathematical operation uses SafeMath. Our StormToken transfers image: ethfiddle.com Abo...
