 | DeFi Protocol SafeMoon Loses $8.9 Million in Bug Exploit
Decentralized finance (DeFi) project SafeMoon saw its liquidity pool (LP) compromised on Tuesday through a public token bug, with the attacker draining wrapped BNB (WBNB) from the protocol.
SafeMoon announced the attack on Twitter, disclosing it was working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. However, the platform did not share details of the incident.

Shortly after the exploit, blockchain security company PeckShield revealed that the bug was introduced during the project's last contract upgrade, initiated by the official SafeMoon Deployer. The firm suggested that the admin key could have been leaked, hence, the initiation of the upgrade.
Web3 developer DeFi Mark further explained that the attacker took advantage of the public burn function, which allowed users to burn tokens from any address.
The function allowed the attacker to remove SFM, SafeMoon's native token, from the project's WBNB liquidity pool, resulting in an artificial spike in the price of SFM.

Formula One filed eight trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on Oct. 5 indicating its plans involving a wide range of cryptocurrency, non-fungible token (NFT), and metaverse products and services.
A USPTO-licensed trademark attorney, Mike Kondoudis, detailed in a tweet Monday:
Formula One has filed 8 trademarks for 'F1' covering: Cryptocurrency + NFTs, NFT + Crypto marketplaces, Retail stores for virtual goods, Blockchain financial transactions, Cryptocurrency trading + mining … and more.
The trademark serial numbers are 97620234, 97620226, 97620223, 97620220, 97620218, 97620213, 97620210, and 97620208. The applications were filed by Formula One Licensing B.V., a Netherland-based company of the Formula One Group which claims ownership of the trademarks related to Formula One and the F1 logo.
Formula 1 is the world's largest annual global sporting event, racing in 22 countries across five continents. 'We have over half a billion passionate fans supporting the world's best drivers and constructors,' its website claims.

Crypto.com has made a new move in its aggressive sports marketing campaign, partnering once again with Formula 1 to become the official title partner of the new Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix.
The announcement comes just days before the airing of the Super Bowl LVI, the most watched sporting event in the United States, in which the exchange bought a spot to air an ad that could be seen by at least 96.4 million people - if last year's figures are repeated, which by the way were the lowest in the last 15 years.

According to a PR shared with Cryptopotato, South Florida Motorsports (SFM), the official promoter of the F1 Miami Grand Prix, has announced Crypto.com as the official title partner of the city's Grand Prix.
As part of the deal, the Grand Prix will now be named Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix, giving the exchange a considerable brand presence among Formula 1 fans all over the world.
