WEB2 Put in a WEB3 Skin, Is Not Decentralization, It’s a Mirage

After the FTX — Cryptocurrency Derivatives Exchange catastrophe last week, and the bizarre tweets SBF has been putting out, it’s clear that we need decentralization in Web3 more than ever. Creating centralization in Web3 doesn’t address the problems Web3 was destined to solve. It just repackages them in a new skin. — Web3 is still the best path forward for humanity - The most unfortunate thing about the @SBF_FTX and @FTX_Official debacle is their impact on crypto adoption. However, even with the immense magnitude of damage caused by this ever-evolving debacle, web3 remains the best candidate for a decentralized citizen-powered future. — Stop pretending to be decentralized when you are not. — In fact, the entire SBF situation proves this. Think about it.What was @FTX_Official? A Centralized Exchange. Inherently an implementation that required users, investors, and anyone involved to put their trust in the hands of a centralized entity. This is not the trustless decentralized world web3 promised. As Kyle Chasse mentioned in the space hosted by Mario Nawfal yesterday, this was another example of a web2 app dressed in web3 clothing. — Is any web2 reliance bad for web3 apps? - Now, I am not saying any web2 app utilizing some aspects of web3 is bad. In fact, among the large number of decentralized implementations launched by Ferrum Network, we have also launched a few centralized solutions that...

Introducing the Ferrum Employee Buyback Pledge

Ferrum introduces an initiative that will add over $100,000 in annual buy pressure to FRM and FRMx and further align the interests of the team.. — Dear Ferrum Fam, Last week, the Ferrum team announced that the tokens from the Team category of their newly designed tokenomics, which makes up 10% of the Max Supply, will vest for an additional 2 years than originally planned. This week, the Ferrum team has done it again. Ferrum is happy to introduce the Ferrum Employee Buyback Pledge! It started when Co-Founder, Ian Friend, was looking around the market for assets to invest in now that the market is recovering a bit. He then noticed that his FRM investment was outperforming most of the market. Naturally, he decided to invest in more FRM! Then he wondered — does the rest of the team understand the investment potential of FRM? And what if we all collectively pledged to invest some of our extra income into FRM or FRMx? Hence the idea was born: the Ferrum Employee Buyback Pledge! — What is the Ferrum Employee Buyback Pledge?. — The Ferrum Employee Buyback Pledge is a mechanism that allows the Ferrum team to pledge a portion of their salaries to buying FRM and FRMx. Each month, before the finance team distributes salaries, Ferrum will buyback the corresponding amounts of FRM and FRMx proportional to the amount that each individual employee pledges and send it to the employee along with the rest of their mon...

Ferrum Network integrating Matter Labs' zkSync into its ecosystem,...

Ferrum Network, a cross-blockchain service company & ecosystem, has now announced it will integrate the zkSync layer-2 scaling solution into its suite of products. This synergy comes following Ferrum's participation in the Series B round for Matter Labs, creator of zkSync.  zkSync is a user-centric zero-knowledge (ZK)-rollup platform for Ethereum and is live on the mainnet. Recent funding into layer-2 scaling provider Matter Labs came from Ferrum Network's investment arm, Ferrum Ventures. Matter Labs and their ZK-rollup system — zkSync — will now be integrated into Ferrum Network's products and ecosystem. Matter Labs / zkSync Matter Labs is a pioneer of zero-knowledge rollups. The organization launched the first-ever public ZK-rollup prototype in early 2019, was the first to implement recursive ZK proofs on Ethereum, and created the world’s first practical FPGA-based hardware for ZKP acceleration in 2020. Recently, Matter Labs announced the first EVM-compatible ZK-rollup on Ethereum’s public testnet, allowing developers to deploy existing Solidity applications to a highly scalable, low-cost environment without sacrificing the security or decentralization provided by Ethereum. “When you really think about it, most of us in this space are here because of Ethereum. Ferrum’s mission has always been to breakdown barriers to mass adoption… and scaling Ethereum is one of the most important milestones in doing so. I... read More
