  FRM DEVELOPER NEWS

Monthly Development Report | September 2022

Summary - In September our main focus was in the following areas: Mainnet Development, MultiSwap, Integration Milestones, — Mainnet - We’re on track to launch the POC testnet this quarter barring any unexpected complexity in our development plan. We have finished work on the first version of the Quantum Portal contracts. Now we are able to feed this data into a Quantum Portal explorer (a multichain explorer) for cross-chain transactions. We’re looking to launch the POC testnet and the Quantum Portal explorer this quarter. — MultiSwap - We’re building MultiSwap as one of the first major products that will plug into our public mainnet once it’s live. However, we are launching MultiSwap prior to the completion of the mainnet. This required us to architect MultiSwap components in a manner that could accommodate future updates and easily plug into our mainnet. We have also created the architecture for solutions like FIBER and FORGE, which will help developers with a multitude of pain points even before MultiSwap is launched. Our work with the Gas Estimation engine in FORGE is now in QA. Once QA passes, we’ll deploy this engine, and developers around the world will be able to use it to estimate gas costs for multi-chain transactions. With our open source initiative we’ll be opening up the repository for FORGE with he first public release so developers can extend its functionality to meet their needs. We ha...

Ferrum 2.0: New Look. New Vision. Same Mentality.

Dear Ferrum Community, Lately, Ferrum has been receiving a lot of attention from the broader Web3 community. It can be hard to keep up with a project that moves as quickly as Ferrum, especially for newcomers. This article is meant to serve as a comprehensive overview of where we’ve been, where we’re at, and where we’re heading. It is meant to serve as a guide for all things Ferrum. We hope you enjoy it! — Brief History - Ferrum has come a long way since our inception in 2019. From creating a suite of white label Staking as a Service solutions that have been deployed for over 200 projects with a lifetime TVL of $500 million and providing advisory services to numerous successful projects, Ferrum has grown into a reputable company having amassed an impressive ecosystem of partners known as the Iron Alliance. Because of the revenue generated from these products and services, unlike most projects in Web3, Ferrum does not have to sell FRM or FRMx. In fact, we continue to buy back tokens using the revenue that we generate through these products. The revenue generated has allowed Ferrum to scale the team in the same fashion as teams that raise millions of dollars. More on how we have not only survived but thrived in the bear market can be found in this article. — Ushering in the Era of Interoperability 2.0 - Due to the solid foundation, we have built for ourselves, we can now focus on a far more ambitious and impac...

Here are a few of our open-sourced repos that we have worked hard on. github.com github.com github.com LEGACY MIGRATING — The Integrations Team - The integrations team had a Big 3 focus which ranged from Pocket Network, Algorand, and Casper. “We Bought DOT!” Initiative Explained

Ferrum makes a statement around their commitment to securing a Polkadot parachain and begin to accumulate DOT.. — Dear Ferrum Community, Ferrum recently announced that we made a substantial DOT purchase as part of our new initiative, “We Bought DOT.” This signifies an important step in the evolution of Ferrum as we commit to fully embracing the journey towards obtaining both Kusama and Polkadot parachains. In this article we’ll cover a bit about what a parachain is and how the Polkadot and Kusama parachain auctions and crowdloans work before we dive into our reasoning behind this initiative. — Understanding the DotSama Ecosystem - Before we can effectively convey the strategy behind this initiative, its important to understand how the Polkadot-Kusama (DotSama) ecosystem operates. Polkadot founder, Gavin Wood, took quite an innovative approach to the “bet against blockchain maximalism” when creating this sort of ‘blockchain of blockchains’ Layer 0 protocol. Some of these innovations pertain to the way that parachains are secured. Parachains are secured through an event called a parachain auction which are typically funded through a process called a crowdloan. — Parachain, auctions, and crowdloans…. — Parachain — For starters, a parachain is a project-specific blockchain that is integrated within the Polkadot or Kusama networks. Polkadot supports a limited number of parachains, curre...

Crucible Update: Alpha Takeaways and Next Steps

Ferrum dives into the results of Crucible Alpha testing as they construct a path toward the DeFi 2.0 product’s official release!. — Dear Ferrum community, We have recently concluded the 3rd phase of alpha testing for our latest DeFi 2.0 product Crucible. The iterative rollout plan for releasing this first of its kind product has gone quite smoothly. We’d like to give a huge shoutout everyone who has taken part in any or all of the 3 Alpha rounds that have been conducted to date. Their feedback has proven to be invaluable in constructing what is called a “build-measure-feedback loop.” In this update, we will be discussing the original goals of Crucible, what our findings were from Alpha, and how we plan to move forward as we get closer to pushing the product to production. — Why Crucible? - Before we can fairly compare the value that Crucible has shown thus far with expectations, it’s important to ‘start with why’ we dreamt this product up in the first place. Let’s dive into the initial problems that Crucible has intended to solve since conception. — Reducing Circulating Supply. — One of the best things a project can do for their token is reduce the circulating supply. This is arguably the number one value proposition of our Staking pools from the past. However, for reasons outlined below, we needed to improve the mechanism for reducing the circulating supply. By taking your FRM and mint...

Ferrum Network integrating Matter Labs' zkSync into its ecosystem,...

Ferrum Network, a cross-blockchain service company & ecosystem, has now announced it will integrate the zkSync layer-2 scaling solution into its suite of products. This synergy comes following Ferrum's participation in the Series B round for Matter Labs, creator of zkSync.  zkSync is a user-centric zero-knowledge (ZK)-rollup platform for Ethereum and is live on the mainnet. Recent funding into layer-2 scaling provider Matter Labs came from Ferrum Network's investment arm, Ferrum Ventures. Matter Labs and their ZK-rollup system — zkSync — will now be integrated into Ferrum Network's products and ecosystem. Matter Labs / zkSync Matter Labs is a pioneer of zero-knowledge rollups. The organization launched the first-ever public ZK-rollup prototype in early 2019, was the first to implement recursive ZK proofs on Ethereum, and created the world’s first practical FPGA-based hardware for ZKP acceleration in 2020. Recently, Matter Labs announced the first EVM-compatible ZK-rollup on Ethereum’s public testnet, allowing developers to deploy existing Solidity applications to a highly scalable, low-cost environment without sacrificing the security or decentralization provided by Ethereum. “When you really think about it, most of us in this space are here because of Ethereum. Ferrum’s mission has always been to breakdown barriers to mass adoption… and scaling Ethereum is one of the most important milestones in doing so. I... read More
