Bootstrapping døllar(ESD)

Døllar’s mechanisms is designed in a way to build the protocol and stablecoin from ground zero. There was no premine. The contract has an advance function which churns out 100 ESDs to first person who calls it every epoch. This is so designed so that the coin can be completely community run. The initial supply increases through the advance function and expansion of supply. Expansion of supply depends on the Uniswap price oracle between ESD/USD pair. Kickstarting Døllar was kickstarted on 25th August by calling the advance function and supplying into the liquidity pool. A article containing information was published on medium and twitter for people to take part in this experimental coin. There needs to a initial supply so that sufficient people may hold ESD and take part in bonding, providing liquidity and DAO governance. For the first 90 epochs, the price of the Uniswap oracle was fixed at 1.10 USDC, meaning the supply would expand 10% every epoch. The epoch is set to be 8 hours for now. Uniswap pool liquidity The Uniswap pool plays in important role in determining the price and thereby telling the protocol where to expand or contract in the next epoch. But, there needs to be sufficient liquidity in it for this to function properly otherwise it could be easily manipulated. Protocol needs sufficient time and incentive for people to know about and provide liquidity in the pool. Thus 5% of the expansion supply was decided a...

Introducing døllar and the {ess}.

It’s with great pleasure that we, the empty set squad, introduce døllar: a fully decentralized elastic-supply stablecoin. Its construction is an iteration on Basis and its predecessors, aiming to solve core issues within their mechanics. To translate to Ethereum, we incorporate ideas from 0x Staking, Rho, and build on top of Uniswap V2 oracles. — motivation. - Collateral-based stablecoins are both capital inefficient and carry risk to the underlying collateralized assets. Additionally, the total supplies of these stablecoins are constrained to strictly less than the available reserve assets on-chain. By iterating on existing primitives, and learning from prior experiments, we aimed to create an elastic-supply stablecoin not bound by these limitations. — design. - We value simplicity over perfection. Over-complicating mechanism design can lead to unintended side effects. Instead, døllar strives to achieve a minimum viable mechanism which can remain secure while solving the underlying problem, but has ample room for improvement via its decentralized governance system. — stability. - døllar is a single-token protocol. ESD is both the stablecoin as well as the vessel with which DAO stake can be claimed via bonding. Bonded ESD allows the user to claim future supply extension rewards as well as participate in governance. Price stability is based on an elastic supply model. To expand supply, new ESD tokens are...

Tron's USDD Regains Stability After Tapping an All-Time Low at $0....

Between June 13 and June 27, or roughly two weeks, Tron's stablecoin USDD dropped lower than the $1 parity and slipped to a low of $0.928 per unit on June 19. During the past seven days, USDD has managed to jump back to the $0.98 to $0.99 region while reaching $1 on July 3.Tron's USDD Stablecoin Climbs Back Above $0.98 per Unit The stablecoin USDD, issued on top of the Tron network, saw its value slip below the typical $1 parity it held prior to June 13. Prior to that day, the stablecoin's chart looked similar to an electrocardiogram flatline holding a stable value of around $0.994 to $1. Between June 13th to the 15th, however, USDD's fiat value slipped to a low of $0.964 per unit. At that time, the Tron Reserve DAO collateralized the stablecoin with crypto assets such as tron (TRX) and usd coin (USDC). During that time, bitcoin (BTC) and a number of other top crypto assets slid significantly in value. On June 18, the crypto economy shuddered and around 2 p.m. (ET), BTC hit a 2022 low at $17,593 per unit. The following day, Tron's USDD hit the stablecoin's all-time low at $0.928 per unit. Eight days later, on June 27, USDD managed to get back to the $0.98 to $0.99 range, and it's been trading for that price ever since, with one brief spike to $1 per unit on July 3. While the stablecoin had a two-week run below the normal rate, the Tron Reserve DAO continued to add more collateral to the project. At the time of writing, the project's reserve page notes that there's 723.32 mi... read More
